One of the biggest projects ever undertaken by Wagga Wagga City Council works included closing the Dampier Street level crossing and building an underpass, and constructing link roads including the Byrnes Road realignment. This project formed Stage 1 of the multimillion dollar Riverina Intermodal Freight and Logistics (RiFL) hub, a core feature of the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Project.
